This is good news, it means the next gen is very close. I can neither confirm nor deny that the next gen 86 is doing press photos at a nearby track that I instruct at.

Good news - I was afraid we were having yet another Covid moment and the gen2 was some arbitrary distance away.

Can you confirm or deny whether it had whooshy turbo sounds or screaming NA sounds? I’l l be very disappointed (though not surprised) if they’ve given away revs and throttle response in pursuit of a bunch of armchair critics who were never going to buy the thing anyway.

OTOH if it goes turbo maybe my 2013 will be worth more in a decade or so...

It has “more power” than the outgoing model, that’s all the info I got about power; however, there were multiple people from Toyota and Subaru that said that the 86 would not get a turbo. I’d bet the 2.4L motor in NA trim making somewhere between 215-235hp.

I plan on buying one. I’ve loved my 2014 and it’s held up well through a very hard life and hundreds of days at the track.

In Europe, it has been discontinued for a few months as it’s engine was too bad in term of CO2/k m, with a similar figure as the Megane 4 RS Trophy that have a 1.8T of 300hp/ 420nm and 5 doors and seats.

T he “malus” (CO2 tax when bought new) in France for those would have been around 12500€ .
